Intel's 313 SSD's Have Finally Arrived

Intel has officially released their new line of Hawley Creek series (313) SSD’s replacing the old Larson Creek series (311). Using a 25 nm SLC NAND flash memory which is designed for Intel’s Ivy Bridge 7 series chipset, the 313 series SSD’s work effortlessly alongside Intel Core processors. The 313 also features Intel Smart Response Technology which boosts boot times, increases system response, and loads applications at a faster pace all while on a low power operation. The 313 is a little on the pricey side for how many GB’s you get, but with the prices of SSD’s plummeting at a slow but sure rate the prices may drop in the months to come. However, what you’ll receive is a highly reliable, fast, and low power consuming drive.

The 313 will be available in a variety of two capacities, both 20 GB and 24 GB, while also in two different form factors (2.5-inch SATA and mSATA) on SATA 3 GB/s interface. You can find these drives for around $120 for the 20 GB model and $140 for the 24 GB. When taken into consideration that these are cache drives that benefit from SLC NAND flash memory, the price could be a bit harsh for only 20 and 24 GB options at a price tag of $120 and $140. You could easily find a higher capacity MLC NAND drive for way cheaper, but if you’re looking for overall performance and don’t care what your money is spent on, this might be the right choice for you.
